The Kautz-Uible Economics Institute strongly encourages all returning Economics and Business Economics majors to apply for our scholarships for the upcoming academic year!

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered for awards offered by the Kautz-Uible Economics Institute, applicants must:

Be majoring in Economics or Business Economics during the academic year of the award
Maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 throughout the award year
Have completed ECON 1001 or ECON 1002
Actively participate in events organized by the Kautz-Uible Economics Institute, Economics Department, and Economics Society
Demonstrate enthusiasm for the study of economics

Available Scholarships

All awards offered by the Kautz-Uible Economics Institute include a $1,000 Professional Development Scholarship.

Kautz-Uible Fellowship

Award Amount: $2,000 tuition + $1,000 professional development
Additional Requirement: Completion of ECON 2020 or ECON 2030

Kautz-Uible Pathways Fellowship

Award Amount: $2,000 tuition + $1,000 professional development

Caroline Kautz Book Prize

Award Amount: $1,000 tuition + $1,000 professional development

Kautz-Uible Professional Development Scholarship

Award Amount: $1,000
Note: Students receiving any of the awards above will also receive the Kautz-Uible Professional Development Scholarship.

Professional Development Funding

Through our Professional Development Scholarship, the Institute supports approved professional development opportunities, including participation at conferences offered by the National Association for Business Economics (NABE) or in study-abroad programs led by Economics Department faculty. Any use of professional development funds must be approved in advance by the Institute. Funds may not be used for hardware or software purchases.

Economics Department Scholarships

In addition to Kautz-Uible awards, we also strongly encourage all Economics and Business Economics majors to apply for awards offered through UC's Economics Department. To be considered, you will need to submit a separate application in SU.

Complete both applications to be considered for awards from both the Institute and Department.

Please Note

You will need the name and email of a professor who will serve as your reference, but a letter is not needed at the time of application.
You must submit both applications to be eligible for all available awards from both the Institute and Department.
If you received an economics scholarship in previous years, you must reapply for the 2026-27 academic year.
