Nonprofit Research and Engagement

The Kautz-Uible Economics Institute and the Leadership Council for Nonprofits have formed a partnership for UC faculty and staff to receive nonprofit board training in the Board Orientation Leadership Development Program (BOLD). In this program, UC employees will learn how to best serve the community in service as a nonprofit board member. The Economics Institute will convene individuals who participate in BOLD training to discover how UC resources can be deployed in research and service for the nonprofit community.

UC economics students will also provide research in the nonprofit sector that UC nonprofit board members can provide to improve their organization’s programs and services. The Economics Institute and UC’s Digital Scholarship Center (DSC) are working on a research project to identify essential nonprofit organizations using natural language processing techniques
