The Kautz-Uible Economics Institute provides valuable resources for those interested in nonprofit board service.

In partnership with the Leadership Council for Nonprofits, the institute provides UC faculty and staff with the opportunity to receive nonprofit board training in the Board Orientation Leadership Development (BOLD) program. In this program, UC employees learn how to best serve the community in service as a nonprofit board member. The institute will convene individuals who participate in BOLD training to discover how UC resources can be deployed in research and service for the nonprofit community.

UC economics students will also provide research in the nonprofit sector that UC nonprofit board members can use to improve their organization’s programs and services. The institute and UC’s Digital Scholarship Center (DSC) are currently working on a research project to identify essential nonprofit organizations using natural language processing techniques.

Foresight for Nonprofit Leadership Course

In this free course, traditional tools of economics are applied to the nonprofit sector. Material covered will be particularly useful for leaders who are already serving, or thinking about serving, on a nonprofit board.
